US lawmakers urge Andrew to testify over Epstein files

US lawmakers are increasing pressure on Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the former Prince Andrew, to testify before Congress about his links to Jeffrey Epstein, with Democrats calling for transparency and accountability from the British royal family. This comes as new documents reveal Andrew shared confidential information with Epstein, and the King faces demands to direct his brother to cooperate with US investigations.

In a recent interview with the BBC, Democrat Congressman Ro Khanna emphasized that the Royal Family has not been transparent regarding the Epstein scandal and should compensate survivors for the horrors they endured. Khanna, who co-sponsored the law compelling the release of Epstein files, stated that it would be appropriate for Andrew to testify in the US, highlighting that the monarchy is at its most vulnerable point due to these revelations.

Congresswoman Teresa Leger Fernandez echoed these sentiments, urging King Charles III to instruct Andrew to answer questions before the House Oversight Committee. She argued that Andrew cannot claim immunity by being outside US jurisdiction and called for an inquiry in England to uncover more details about Epstein’s network and those involved.

The pressure intensified with Sky Roberts, brother of accuser Virginia Giuffre, publicly demanding that Andrew appear before Congress. Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer also supported the call for testimony, reflecting bipartisan concern over the Epstein case and its implications for justice and accountability.

Newly released emails from the US Department of Justice show multiple unsuccessful attempts by US authorities to secure Andrew’s cooperation in Epstein inquiries. Andrew, who cannot be compelled by subpoena to travel to the US, has consistently denied any wrongdoing and settled with Giuffre in 2022 without admitting liability.

The King has expressed profound concern over the allegations and stated that the Royal Family is ready to support police investigations. This marks his first intervention in the latest round of Epstein revelations, as Thames Valley Police assesses a complaint about Andrew sharing confidential trade details with Epstein.

Andrew has moved out of his Windsor home amid the scandal, residing temporarily at Wood Farm on the Sandringham Estate. The latest files include photographs and claims of a second woman sent to the UK by Epstein for an encounter with Andrew, though he denies all allegations.

The ongoing scrutiny underscores the global impact of the Epstein scandal, with US lawmakers pushing for international cooperation to ensure all individuals involved are held accountable. As the investigation continues, the focus remains on obtaining Andrew’s testimony to shed light on Epstein’s activities and provide closure for victims.
