Fashion designer and celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe has disclosed the pivotal event that led her to officially end her 26-year marriage to Rodger Berman, revealing the details during the January 29 episode of ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.’ Zoe, 54, announced on the Bravo show that she had filed for divorce that very morning, attributing the decision to a series of recent poor choices by Berman, culminating in an ‘insane’ final straw involving his new girlfriend.
During the episode, Zoe explained that it was ‘not one thing’ but rather ‘an absolute myriad of bad decisions that have been made over the last month, the last weeks, the last f–king hour’ that triggered her to move forward with the divorce. She described the relationship as having been strained for some time, with numerous issues accumulating to the breaking point. This revelation came as she confided in fellow housewife Erika Jayne about the specific incident that pushed her over the edge.
The critical moment occurred when Berman, without prior notice, brought his new girlfriend to meet Zoe and their two sons as the children were about to depart for camp. ‘She’s never met the kids. My kids are leaving, about to get on a plane to camp. Literally, she f–king appears,’ Zoe recounted, expressing her disbelief and frustration. This unexpected introduction, which she labeled as ‘insane,’ highlighted the lack of boundaries and respect that had eroded their marriage.
Zoe also addressed the financial aspects of the divorce, noting that she and Berman do not have a prenuptial agreement. She stated that she does not want to give or receive spousal support, emphasizing her desire for a clean break. ‘I feel that this is a new beginning and if we are separating, and living separate lives with separate people, I don’t see why I should be paying for that. Or he should be paying for mine,’ she explained during her confessional on the show.
Reflecting on the marriage, Zoe admitted that her ‘greatest regret would probably be working together’ with Berman. The couple, who co-founded the Rachel Zoe Inc. fashion empire, found that professional collaboration blurred personal lines. ‘Lines got crossed. The person that I was with my whole adult life, in many ways, was unrecognizable,’ she said, adding that this dynamic made him feel ‘not right’ around her and their children.
Zoe and Berman first met in 1991 while students at George Washington University and married seven years later in 1998. They share two sons, Skyler, 14, and Kaius, 12. The couple announced their separation in September 2024 via Instagram, stating it was a mutual decision to end their marriage after 33 years together. Zoe officially filed for divorce in July 2025, and Berman went public with stylist Bree Jacoby in September 2025.
Despite the split, Zoe and Berman have committed to co-parenting their sons and continuing to work together in their shared businesses. In her initial separation statement, Zoe requested privacy for her family, signing off ‘with love and gratitude.’ The episode showed her reacting to the public news of the filing, expressing relief that their children were away at camp and not exposed to the media frenzy.
As the divorce proceedings unfold, Zoe’s candid revelations on RHOBH offer a glimpse into the complexities of ending a long-term marriage in the public eye. Her focus remains on moving forward independently while maintaining a functional relationship with Berman for the sake of their family and business endeavors.
