Candace Cameron Confesses to ‘Really Low Lows’ in Valeri Bure Marriage Ahead of 30th Anniversary

Candace Cameron Bure has bravely opened up about the profound struggles in her nearly three-decade marriage to Valeri Bure, candidly admitting to experiencing ‘really low lows’ and periods of deep brokenness. Her honest revelations, shared on her podcast this week, come as the couple approaches their 30th wedding anniversary in June 2026, offering a rare glimpse into the realities of long-term relationships.

In a recent episode of ‘The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast,’ the ‘Full House’ star described moments where she and her husband felt ‘stuck’ in their marriage, unable to communicate openly about difficult issues. ‘I know that during some of those low times — I wouldn’t even say it’s low — you’re just kind of, like, sitting in the shallow of the valley,’ Bure explained. She emphasized that while there have been ‘lots of highs,’ there have also been ‘some really low lows,’ and both she and Valeri have at times lacked the confidence or courage to address hard truths that might hurt each other’s feelings.

Bure further elaborated on the communication challenges, noting that feeling stuck is common in marriages, but it requires honesty to overcome. ‘I know that we can feel stuck. We want to get unstuck,’ she said, highlighting the internal conflict of wanting change but not knowing where to start, especially when family dynamics are involved. This sentiment resonates with many couples who face similar hurdles in maintaining intimacy and understanding over the years.

The actress credited her son Lev, now 25, with playing a pivotal role in helping her and Valeri navigate a particularly rough season in 2020. During that time, the couple doubted they would ‘make it through,’ but Lev intervened with a 45-minute Bible-based sermon on marriage. ‘He said, “I know I haven’t been married… but I don’t need to be married to know what the word of God says,”‘ Bure recounted, expressing gratitude for his wisdom and calm guidance that helped restore their relationship.

Bure also reflected on how children can test a marriage, describing them as ‘little manipulative beings’ who demand attention and can unintentionally pit parents against each other. Despite these challenges, she has been transparent about the ‘rough seasons’ her marriage has endured, including a period in 2020 when things ‘went south’ and she relied on her faith to rebuild. In a November interview with Us Weekly, she acknowledged ‘times of deep brokenness’ but emphasized that God’s restoration has been key to their longevity.

The couple’s relationship began thanks to a setup by Bure’s ‘Full House’ co-star Dave Coulier in the mid-1990s. They married on June 22, 1996, and have three children: Natasha, 26, Lev, 25, and Maksim, 23. Over the years, Bure has often shared insights into their marriage, balancing public scrutiny with personal honesty, which has endeared her to fans seeking relatable stories about love and perseverance.

As Bure continues to speak openly about her experiences, her confessions serve as a reminder that even high-profile marriages face struggles, and resilience often comes from faith, family support, and honest communication. With their 30th anniversary on the horizon, Bure’s message underscores the importance of weathering lows to appreciate the highs, offering hope and solidarity to others in similar situations.
