Todd Chrisley’s son Kyle arrested for domestic assault, public intoxication as rap sheet grows

Kyle Chrisley, the 34-year-old son of reality television personality Todd Chrisley, was arrested in Tennessee on Saturday, December 20, 2025, on multiple charges including domestic assault and public intoxication. This latest incident adds to his growing list of legal troubles, which have spanned several years and include previous arrests for drug possession and aggravated assault.

The arrest occurred around 7 p.m. local time in Rutherford County, where deputies from the sheriff’s office took Kyle into custody. He was booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center and faces charges of domestic assault, public intoxication, disorderly conduct, assaulting a first responder, resisting arrest, and retaliation for past actions. TMZ was the first to report the news on Sunday, December 21, citing law enforcement sources.

Kyle Chrisley has a history of run-ins with the law. In May 2019, he was arrested in Oklahoma for drug possession, and at the time, there was an outstanding warrant for allegedly making death threats to a former partner, though those charges were later dropped. In March 2023, he was detained for aggravated assault after an altercation with a supervisor at a truck rental company, where he was accused of brandishing a knife, a claim his wife Ashleigh denied, stating it was self-defense due to his PTSD.

The Chrisley family has been in the public eye not only for their reality show “Chrisley Knows Best” but also for legal issues. Kyle’s parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, were convicted in November 2022 on charges of bank and wire fraud, tax evasion, and conspiracy, receiving a combined 19-year prison sentence. However, they were pardoned by President Donald Trump earlier this year, ending that legal saga.

Kyle’s mental health has been a point of discussion, with Todd Chrisley revealing that his son was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and would “struggle for life.” In September 2019, Kyle admitted on the “Chrisley Confessions” podcast that he attempted suicide after a bad reaction to medication, highlighting his ongoing challenges.

In August 2025, Kyle and his wife Ashleigh sued Rutherford County and two sheriff’s deputies over his September 2024 arrest for aggravated assault. The lawsuit alleged that Kyle was unfairly arrested and that deputies ignored evidence showing he was the victim in a dispute with a mechanic. They sought $1.7 million in damages, claiming false arrest, excessive force, and retaliation.

This latest arrest raises questions about Kyle’s future legal proceedings and the impact on the Chrisley family. With multiple charges pending, he could face significant penalties if convicted. The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office has not provided additional comments, and representatives for Todd Chrisley have not immediately responded to requests for statement.

As the case develops, it underscores the ongoing struggles within the Chrisley family, blending personal turmoil with public scrutiny. Kyle’s repeated encounters with law enforcement suggest a pattern that may require intervention beyond the legal system, potentially involving mental health support to address underlying issues.
