Teddi Mellencamp turning to therapy to process ‘frustrating’ cancer battle

Teddi Mellencamp, the former ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star, has revealed she is undergoing therapy to cope with the emotional and physical strains of her cancer battle, sharing her struggles in a recent podcast episode that highlights the lingering impacts of her health crisis.

Diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022, Mellencamp’s condition escalated in 2025 when multiple tumors were discovered in her brain, leading to emergency surgery and a stage four diagnosis. Despite announcing in October 2025 that scans showed no detectable cancer, she remains on immunotherapy and is considered stage four, not yet in remission, underscoring the precarious nature of her recovery.

On the January 27, 2026 episode of her ‘Two T’s in a Pod’ podcast, Mellencamp confessed to starting therapy, explaining she hadn’t properly processed the traumatic events of the past year. She pointed to the cumulative effect of her divorce from Edwin Arroyave after 13 years of marriage, the sudden need for surgery, and prolonged periods away from her three young children during recovery.

Physically, Mellencamp expressed frustration with her limitations, noting she feels slower and struggles with movement, which has been distressing. ‘I want to be back to the way I was,’ she said, emphasizing the gap between her current state and her pre-diagnosis self, and revealing newfound fears about cancer recurrence that weren’t present during the height of her treatment.

She also addressed comments from her father, musician John Mellencamp, who recently stated on a podcast that she is ‘suffering’ from brain cancer. Mellencamp clarified that while there is still no trace of cancer, she is mentally struggling, which her father referred to, and acknowledged experiencing emotional turmoil, frequent crying, and signs of post-traumatic stress.

Her current health regimen involves ongoing immunotherapy, which she says causes side effects affecting her mental health. Although the cancer is not detectable, she remains vigilant, with the possibility of recurrence a constant concern. ‘I haven’t even taken any Ubers by myself,’ she admitted, pointing to a loss of independence stemming from her ordeal.

Support from family, including daily check-ins from her father, has been crucial, but Mellencamp is focused on processing her emotions through therapy. She hopes to navigate the aftermath with resilience, recognizing that recovery encompasses both mental and physical healing as she continues to battle the lingering effects of her cancer journey.
