TreVeyon Henderson Asks Sideline Before Scoring 69-Yard TD in Patriots Win

The New England Patriots extended their winning streak to seven games with a 28-23 road victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, powered by explosive touchdowns from rookies TreVeyon Henderson and Kyle Williams. Henderson’s 69-yard scoring run, during which he looked to the sideline for guidance, capped a career-best performance that included another 55-yard touchdown.

On Sunday, November 9, 2025, the Patriots traveled to Tampa and faced a Buccaneers team that opened the scoring quickly. Baker Mayfield connected with Emeka Egbuka for a 21-yard touchdown on the opening drive, putting early pressure on New England.

The Patriots’ offense struggled initially, punting on their first two possessions. However, late in the first quarter, Kyle Williams changed the momentum with a 72-yard touchdown catch. The rookie wide receiver, filling in for the injured Kayshon Boutte, showcased his speed by turning a short pass into a score, tying the game at 7-7.

In the second quarter, the Patriots took the lead with a methodical drive capped by Stefon Diggs’ athletic touchdown catch on fourth down. Diggs made a toe-tapping grab in the end zone, giving New England a 14-10 halftime advantage after a well-executed two-minute drill.

The second half started explosively for the Patriots. On just the second play, TreVeyon Henderson broke through the line for a 55-yard touchdown run, extending the lead to 21-10. Henderson, who had been criticized earlier for not breaking tackles, showed his elite speed and vision on the play.

Tampa Bay responded with a sustained drive, resulting in a Tez Johnson touchdown reception, but a failed two-point conversion kept the score at 21-16. The game remained tight as both teams exchanged possessions, with the Patriots’ defense making key stops despite injuries piling up.

A critical moment came in the fourth quarter when Drake Maye was intercepted in the end zone, giving the Buccaneers a chance to take the lead. However, the Patriots’ defense held firm, forcing a turnover on downs with a sack by K’Lavon Chaisson.

With the game on the line, Henderson delivered the knockout blow. On a 69-yard touchdown run, he bounced outside and raced down the sideline, briefly looking toward the bench before scoring. This made him the first Patriot with two 50-plus-yard rushing touchdowns in a game, and he finished with 147 yards.

The Buccaneers added a late touchdown to make it 28-23, but the Patriots recovered the onside kick to seal the win. The victory improves New England to 8-2 and underscores the growing impact of their rookie class, setting up a crucial divisional matchup against the Jets on Thursday.
