Erika Kirk Vows to Never Watch Video of Charlie Kirk’s Assassination

In her first public interview since the assassination of her husband, conservative activist Charlie Kirk, Erika Kirk emotionally recounted the harrowing details of his death and firmly stated that she will never watch the widely circulated video of the event.

Erika Kirk shared these revelations in a special edition of ‘Jesse Watters Primetime’ on Fox News, describing the day of September 10, 2025, when Charlie was fatally shot while speaking at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University. She was at a doctor’s appointment with her mother, monitoring the event on her phone, when she received a life-altering call from Michael McCoy, TPUSA’s chief of staff. Kirk recalled sprinting out of the treatment center, collapsing in the parking lot, and immediately calling security to protect their two young children, entering what she called an ‘unbelievable nightmare.’

The morning of the assassination, Charlie had left their Arizona home early for the event in Orem, Utah, after Erika encouraged him to sleep in their daughter’s room for a better rest. She revealed that he briefly entered their bedroom to retrieve his wedding ring and necklace but left without a kiss goodbye, a moment she deeply regrets. Erika remained in Arizona that day to care for her mother, who was experiencing a medical issue, while Charlie headed to the campus event filled with excitement.

Upon arriving in Utah after the shooting, Erika insisted on seeing Charlie’s body at the hospital despite a police officer advising her to wait for the mortuary. She explained that she needed to see ‘what they did to my husband’ and to give him the kiss she missed that morning. In the hospital room, she found him still warm with his eyes slightly open and a smirk on his face, which she interpreted as a powerful symbol of his enduring spirit and defiance in death.

Erika emphasized that she has never watched the video of Charlie’s assassination and never will, stating that certain images ‘mark your soul forever’ and she does not want her children exposed to such footage. She described the shooting as instantaneous, with Charlie dying on the scene from a single rifle round to the neck, and expressed relief that he did not suffer. The alleged assassin, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, faces first-degree murder charges and could receive the death penalty in Utah.

Reflecting on Charlie’s safety, Erika recalled suggesting he wear a vest, but he believed that if someone intended to harm him, it would happen regardless. She has since assumed the role of president at Turning Point USA, continuing his legacy and recently speaking at a University of Mississippi event alongside Vice President JD Vance. Erika shared that she explains Charlie’s death to their daughter by encouraging her to talk to him by looking up at the sky, fostering a sense of connection.

In closing, Erika expressed that Charlie’s smirk in death embodies his belief that his murderers could not extinguish the movement he built. She deferred to biblical justice regarding the assassin’s fate, trusting the government to decide while focusing on honoring Charlie’s vision and ensuring his legacy endures through continued advocacy and public engagement.
