Australia has unveiled its 15-player squad for the opening Ashes Test in Perth, with Steve Smith taking over the captaincy from the injured Pat Cummins and three uncapped players earning their first call-ups.

Three players are poised for their Test debuts: batsman Jake Weatherald and bowlers Brendan Doggett and Sean Abbott. Weatherald, known for his attacking style in domestic cricket, is a strong candidate to open alongside Usman Khawaja, offering flexibility in the top order. Doggett brings accuracy and bounce from his Sheffield Shield performances, and Abbott adds value as an all-rounder with both batting and bowling skills.
