Zara ads banned in UK for ‘unhealthily thin’ models

The UK’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) banned two Zara advertisements for depicting models deemed ‘unhealthily thin.’ The ads, released in May, featured a model in an oversized white shirt that prominently emphasized her collarbone and thin arms. This decision follows a similar ASA ruling against Marks & Spencer last month, reflecting increased regulatory scrutiny of body image representation in fashion advertising. Both rulings respond to growing calls for brands to promote responsible and diverse body standards. Zara has removed the images and stated it adheres to strict model selection guidelines.
