Russian strikes near Kharkiv kill four, including children, Ukraine says

Overnight Russian air strikes have killed at least four people, including three young children, in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region, local officials reported on February 11, 2026. The attack on the town of Bohodukhiv has intensified concerns over civilian casualties as Moscow renews its offensive after a brief pause.

A drone strike hit a residential house in Bohodukhiv, northwest of Kharkiv city, killing a 34-year-old man and three toddlers—two one-year-old boys and a two-year-old girl. A 35-year-old pregnant woman and a 74-year-old woman were injured in the attack, with rescue workers pulling the bodies from the rubble. Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Oblast Military Administration, confirmed the casualties on Telegram, noting that the family had recently evacuated from the border settlement of Zolochiv.

The Russian aerial attack comes as Moscow resumes strikes after a week-long pause that former U.S. President Donald Trump had asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to observe during severe cold weather. Bohodukhiv has been under almost daily Russian attack in recent days, with previous incidents killing a 41-year-old woman and a 10-year-old boy earlier in the week. This pattern of targeting civilian areas underscores the ongoing brutality of the conflict.

In addition to the Bohodukhiv strike, Russian forces dropped seven bombs on the city of Slovyansk in Donetsk region on the same day, killing three people including an 11-year-old girl. Ukrainian authorities report that Moscow has increased pressure on the region by targeting transport and energy infrastructure with a record number of ballistic missiles, leading to widespread power cuts and humanitarian crises.

A state of emergency has been declared over the energy situation in the Kharkiv region by local authorities, following the expiration of an “energy truce” meant to provide reprieve during freezing temperatures. Tens of thousands of people across Ukraine are experiencing severe power outages, with many households lacking running water or heating, exacerbating the winter hardships.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that the United States wants the war with Russia to end by June, and both sides have been invited to the U.S. for talks next week. Meanwhile, a massive Ukrainian drone attack on Volzhsky in Russia’s Volgograd region was reported, damaging an apartment and causing a factory fire, indicating reciprocal escalations.

The latest strikes highlight the persistent violence in Ukraine’s northeast as the war approaches its third year, with civilian deaths mounting despite international calls for ceasefires. The situation remains volatile, with ongoing military engagements and diplomatic efforts struggling to curb the bloodshed.
