Tara Reid claims she was drugged at Chicago hotel bar, wheeled out on stretcher in distressing video

Tara Reid, the ‘American Pie’ actress, alleges she was drugged at a Chicago-area hotel bar early Sunday morning, resulting in her hospitalization after disturbing video emerged of her being transported on a stretcher. The incident has sparked concerns about drink safety and is under investigation by authorities.

On November 24, 2025, Reid was staying at a hotel in Rosemont, Illinois, when she visited the bar for a drink. According to her account, she ordered a glass of wine and then stepped outside for a cigarette break, leaving her beverage unattended. During this time, she encountered a group of YouTubers in the lobby, with one joining her for the smoke session. When she returned to the bar, she noticed her drink was covered by a napkin that she did not place there, raising suspicions of tampering.

Video footage obtained by TMZ and reported by Page Six captures the alarming aftermath, showing Reid in a nearly unconscious state as hotel staff and others attempt to place her into a wheelchair. She appeared disheveled, wearing a tan fur coat, and was mumbling incoherently while her head swayed loosely. As one man pushed her through the lobby, her body went limp, causing her to fall halfway out of the wheelchair and exposing her midriff, requiring several people to lift her back into place.

The scene escalated when paramedics arrived, as seen in the video cutting to Reid lying on a stretcher being led through the hotel lobby to an ambulance. She was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Reid later recalled to TMZ that after consuming the drink, the next thing she remembered was waking up in the hospital approximately eight hours later, with medical staff informing her that she had been drugged.

Rosemont Police confirmed they responded to an EMS call for a ‘sick person’ at the hotel around 12:39 a.m. on Sunday and that the patient was taken to the hospital. Initially, police stated they had not received a report regarding claims of drugging, but Reid’s representative later told Page Six that she has filed a police report and is fully cooperating with the investigation. The spokesperson emphasized that Reid is recovering from the traumatic event and has urged the public to be vigilant about never leaving drinks unattended.

Reid, who has publicly acknowledged past struggles with substance abuse, insisted to both TMZ and Page Six that she only had one drink that night and was not under the influence of any other substances. This assertion aims to counter potential skepticism, given her history, and underscores the seriousness of her claim that the incident was due to external drugging rather than personal misuse.

The event has drawn attention to the broader issue of drink spiking, which Reid highlighted in her statements, warning others to monitor their beverages in social settings. Her experience serves as a cautionary tale, emphasizing how quickly such situations can escalate and the importance of awareness in preventing similar occurrences.

As the investigation continues, Reid is focusing on her recovery and has requested privacy during this difficult time. The incident may prompt increased scrutiny of security measures in hospitality venues and could lead to wider discussions on safety protocols to protect patrons from similar risks in the future.
