Social media influencer Chris Griffith has filed a countersuit against NFL star Stefon Diggs, alleging that Diggs exposed his penis and engaged in sexual misconduct during a 2023 encounter. This legal action responds to Diggs’ defamation lawsuit from October, escalating their legal dispute.
In his original lawsuit, Diggs claimed that Griffith fabricated allegations of sexual assault for attention and clout on social media. Diggs asserted that their interaction in May 2023 was brief and harmless, and he sought damages for defamation, arguing that Griffith’s posts were knowingly false and damaging to his reputation.
Griffith’s countersuit, filed this week, paints a starkly different picture of the events. He alleges that on the night of May 21, 2023, he and Diggs visited several clubs in Washington, D.C., where Diggs repeatedly offered him a piece of candy. After consuming it, Griffith felt disoriented and believes he was drugged, as his pupils dilated dramatically, his skin tingled, and he struggled to form complete sentences.
According to the complaint, after leaving a lounge in Diggs’ Porsche, Diggs exposed his penis and began masturbating while still in the car, motioning for Griffith to participate. Griffith refused, told him to put his penis away, and quickly exited the vehicle. As he approached the door of Diggs’ Maryland home, Diggs allegedly gripped his shoulder, tried to kiss him, and when avoided, put his tongue in Griffith’s ear while whispering invitations to his bedroom.
Once inside the house, Griffith says he fled to the bathroom and hid for approximately 45 minutes to plan an escape. When he emerged, he was confronted by two women and Diggs’ younger brother, Darez, who threatened him to remain silent about the incident. They falsely accused him of stealing items, stripped him, and physically assaulted him before forcing him into a vehicle and dropping him at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
A week later, Griffith claims he was attacked outside his Los Angeles apartment, sustaining serious injuries, and he identifies Darez as one of the assailants in an incident caught on video. Additionally, Griffith alleges that Diggs used a burner Instagram account to make defamatory statements about him, adding to the legal complexities of the case.
In his countersuit, Griffith is seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages for the alleged misconduct, defamation, and emotional distress. This legal battle intensifies the dispute between the two, with both parties presenting conflicting narratives that will require court intervention to resolve. The outcome could have significant implications for their public images and careers, highlighting the challenges of personal conflicts in the spotlight.
