Jeremy Renner denies Yi Zhou’s claims they reached a ‘peaceful’ agreement following her bombshell allegation

Jeremy Renner has denied filmmaker Yi Zhou’s assertion that they reached a peaceful agreement, following her recent allegations of harassment. His attorney, Martin Singer, stated that no resolution was made, directly contradicting Zhou’s social media posts.

Earlier in November, Zhou accused Renner of sending her a series of unsolicited pornographic images via WhatsApp in June. She alleged that when she confronted him about this behavior, he threatened to call Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on her, an act she described as deeply shocking and frightening. These claims were first publicized through her Instagram accounts and later detailed in interviews with outlets like the Daily Mail, where she shared screenshots of alleged messages.

In response, Renner’s lawyer denied all allegations, calling them “totally inaccurate and untrue.” Singer claimed that after a brief consensual encounter in Reno, Nevada, where Renner was interviewed for Zhou’s documentary “Chronicles of Disney,” Zhou began sending sexually explicit messages and harassing Renner after he rejected her romantic advances. This counter-narrative portrayed Zhou as the aggressor, with Singer alleging she sent hundreds of unwanted messages.

On Saturday, November 16, Zhou posted on Instagram that she and Renner had “reached a peaceful and mutually respectful resolution without any settlement money from both sides.” She further stated that they would move forward with their joint projects, including “Chronicles of Disney” and the AI-animated film “Stardust Future,” suggesting an amicable end to the conflict and continued collaboration.

However, within hours, Singer denied these claims, telling TMZ that “there was no deal reached with Yi Zhou to resolve my client Jeremy Renner’s substantial multi-million dollar claims against her.” He expressed confusion over why Zhou would fabricate such a story, emphasizing that Renner had only agreed to participate in a documentary, not an animated movie, and that no agreement was in place regarding future projects.

The collaboration between Renner and Zhou began earlier this year, with Zhou inviting Renner to be part of her Oscar-running initiatives. Zhou alleged that Renner refused to promote them publicly despite repeated requests, and during a meeting at his home, he became drunk and “yelled for two hours,” leaving her scared for her life and prompting her to share her location with colleagues and family. In contrast, Singer described their interaction as limited and professional, with Zhou subsequently engaging in relentless and unwanted communication.

This dispute occurs against the backdrop of Renner’s personal history, including a near-fatal snowplow accident in 2023 and past allegations from his ex-wife, Sonni Pacheco, which he has denied. The current situation underscores the complexities of celebrity relationships and power dynamics in Hollywood, with potential legal ramifications. As both parties maintain opposing stories, the truth remains contested, and further developments may unfold through legal actions or additional public statements.
