Diplo appeared to ‘switch dates’ at billionaire wedding of Nigeria’s Temi Otedola and Mr. Eazi

DJ Diplo sparked gossip by apparently switching female companions at the lavish wedding of Nigerian billionaire heiress Temi Otedola and pop star Mr. Eazi in Dubai, adding a layer of celebrity intrigue to the high-profile event.

The incident occurred during the second of three extravagant wedding celebrations for the couple, held on July 5th in Dubai. The event was described by attendees as “Africa’s Forbes billionaires retreat,” drawing a star-studded guest list that included some of the continent’s wealthiest individuals and celebrities. The opulent ceremonies, estimated to cost between $10 million and $13 million, were part of a series of weddings that showcased the couple’s immense wealth and global connections.

Diplo arrived at the reception with a mystery brunette who wore a bright red spandex jumpsuit with a V-neck and low back. Sources noted that her outfit did not align with the “traditional red garb” theme of the event, with one insider describing it as “not traditional” and out of place. Her presence with Diplo suggested she might have been his date for the evening, but she was not seen later during the festivities.

Later in the evening, at the after-party, Diplo was spotted with an entirely different woman, America Foster, who is a member of his Major Lazer group. This switch in companions led to widespread speculation among guests, with many whispering that Diplo had “switched dates” during the event. The disappearance of the first woman and the appearance of Foster fueled rumors and became a topic of discussion the following day.

A representative for Diplo later clarified that America Foster was simply a friend and bandmate, implying that the first woman might have been a date who left early, while Foster joined later for the party. Despite this explanation, the sequence of events created a buzz, highlighting how minor celebrity actions can attract significant attention even at private, exclusive gatherings.

The wedding itself was a grand affair, with the first ceremony taking place in May at designer Karl Lagerfeld’s former home, Villa La Vigie, on the French Riviera. The Dubai celebration was held at the Otedola family mansion and featured performances by legendary Nigerian musician King Sunny Ade. The third and final wedding occurred on August 8th in Iceland, where John Legend surprised the bride by performing hits like “Save Room” and “Tonight (Best You Ever Had),” as the couple danced in a custom-built glass structure surrounded by Icelandic scenery.

Other notable guests included Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, Ghanaian singer King Promise, and various entrepreneurs and influencers. The events underscored the couple’s status and the blend of luxury, culture, and celebrity that characterized their nuptials.

While the gossip about Diplo’s behavior was a minor aspect of the weddings, it reflects the heightened scrutiny that accompanies such high-society events. The incident did not detract from the overall celebration but added an element of casual entertainment for those involved and observing from afar.
