Jenelle Evans, a former “Teen Mom” star, has broken her silence on her 16-year-old son Jace’s recent move to North Carolina, describing it as a “full circle moment” in a series of Instagram Stories posted on August 27, 2025. She expressed hope that Jace will “change and follow the rules,” while acknowledging her responsibilities towards her two younger children, Kaiser and Ensley.
The move comes after weeks of public tension, including Jace leaking alleged text messages on August 19 where Jenelle was seen using profanity and threatening to cut off support. Jenelle responded by explaining that the messages were part of a disciplinary measure and not the full context of their communication. She emphasized that setting rules and boundaries is part of parenting, even when it leads to conflict.
Jace, who has diagnoses of ADHD, major depressive disorder, and oppositional defiant disorder, has been having a hard time adjusting, according to Jenelle. She revealed that he has faced issues with law enforcement in recent months, complicating their relationship. The decision for Jace to move out was reportedly triggered when he threatened to call CPS after being grounded for acting out.
Jenelle reflected on her own past, stating that she had to “rewire myself out of being too reactive” and learn to avoid the cursing and conflict that characterized her upbringing with her mother, Barbara Evans. She sees history repeating itself with Jace and hopes he can undergo a similar transformation. “I had to break the family cycle and it’s happening again,” she wrote.
This isn’t the first time the family has been in the spotlight for negative reasons. In September 2023, Jace accused Jenelle’s then-husband David Eason of assault, and in 2019, David’s killing of their dog led to CPS removing the children temporarily. Jenelle filed for divorce from David in February 2024, citing concerning behavior, and has since been focusing on her children.
Despite the challenges, Jenelle remains dedicated to her role as a mother. “My children are my whole world, and everything I do is to try and protect, guide and love them,” she affirmed. She asked for grace during this difficult time and vowed to continue working on being the best mom she can be.
The public nature of their struggles, amplified by Jenelle’s reality TV background, has drawn significant attention. As Jace settles into his new life in North Carolina, the future of their relationship remains uncertain, but Jenelle is hopeful for positive change.
