A-list actress reveals Taylor Swift took her in during LA fires — and confesses to ‘destroying’ part of singer’s home

Zoë Kravitz disclosed that she and her mother Lisa Bonet damaged Taylor Swift’s bathroom during a frantic attempt to recover a pet snake while staying at the singer’s Los Angeles home during wildfire evacuations. The revelation came during Kravitz’s August 12, 2025 appearance on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’, highlighting Swift’s generosity during natural disasters and the chaotic aftermath of the reptile escape.

Actress and director Zoë Kravitz shared the incident during a television interview on August 12, 2025. Her mother, actress Lisa Bonet, had brought her pet snake Orpheus when evacuating their Topanga Canyon home due to the Los Angeles wildfires. Swift had invited them to stay at her historic 1930s-era Los Angeles residence for approximately two weeks during the crisis.

The incident occurred as the pair prepared to leave Swift’s home. While Kravitz was cleaning downstairs to maintain the property, Bonet discovered the snake had escaped into a hole near a built-in banquette in an upstairs bathroom. Bonet managed to grab the snake’s tail but couldn’t extract the powerful reptile as it retreated further into the wall structure.

Kravitz described panicking at the situation, comparing it to a ‘Jurassic Park’ scene. The house manager arrived with a crowbar to dismantle the banquette and tiles, causing significant damage to the bathroom. Kravitz noted they faced a dilemma: either destroy the bathroom or risk losing the snake in Swift’s house. They ultimately chose the former, tearing apart cabinetry and scratching walls during the rescue.

Kravitz immediately took responsibility, promising to pay for repairs and requesting the house manager delay informing Swift until after repairs. When she later confessed to Swift by phone, the singer responded humorously, already aware of both the snake incident and bathroom damage. The story illustrates unexpected challenges during disaster evacuations, even among celebrities.

Host Seth Meyers joked that the snake Orpheus might inspire multiple songs on Swift’s next album. The incident has now become a humorous celebrity anecdote shared on national television, though Kravitz emphasized her initial mortification at damaging the property after Swift’s generosity. No further action is expected beyond the repairs already completed.

This revelation coincided with Swift’s announcement of her new album ‘The Life of a Showgirl’, adding a lighthearted personal story to a major career moment for the singer. The incident underscores how natural disasters create unusual living situations and unexpected challenges, even for high-profile individuals.
